Great to hear you made it! What is this the view from a hostel?

Beautifully written (who said you had to create computer games to be a travel writer?) -- and I want to say that I know exactly what you mean. Which, of course, I do in a sense, but then again, I'm sitting in my rooms at Oxford, with my own posters on the walls, not leaving behind two years of a world created for a future of a world unknown. I hope your travels lead to wonder and learning and joy, and that knowledge of self and others -- sometimes called identity -- which may be the closest thing to stability or "home" that we vagabonds will ever really own. I love you both, and wish you travel mercies, abundantly. Under the Mercy.

I love it all! The notes, the gifts (are you doing to send a pic in your couples matching underwear? :-), etc. You guys have had a great experience there. Some day, your students will be running Korea (or maybe just Gunsan, but by then it will be the next Dubai), and if you go back, you will be wined and dined and probably given a palace to live in. So I'd keep in touch with them. :-)

  • Taegeuk Warriors off to a good start   6 years 4 weeks ago

Yep, in Gunsan. It would have been fun to stay in Seoul and watch amidst the thousands gathered in the streets, but we wanted to get back home.

  • Taegeuk Warriors off to a good start   6 years 4 weeks ago

     Was that in Gunsan?

Wow and Joy!  What a great name!  Wish we could have stayed through the world cup.  Go South Korea!

If a picture is worth a thousand words then this must be worth a ga-million.

@Doug: You'd be surprised, but there is actually a decent amount of dirt that accumulates here. The fact that the floors are wood instead of carpet undoubtedly adds to the impression.

@Erica: Merry Christmas to you too.

@Celeste: Always happy to make you happy, Celeste :). I miss you (and all our Bethel friends) a great deal. Happy Christmas.

@Jed: Yes, Orangepants' name is Orangepants. You may have noticed that his pants are actually white right now, which we can't help: sometimes he changes pants.

Thanks all, for taking the time to comment.

Did you say the fish's name is "Orangepants"?
Those stockings are kickin', and you're other room has awesome walls.

Hi, you two!  I don't check in on your blog very often, but this most recent video is a treat.  Thanks for sharing.  Happy Christmas and I love you both.

    Aw!

Your apartment is so cute! I want to put up a Christmas tree too. I think  we are going to put up our Christmas decorations and lights this weekend. I woke up to a bit of snow this morning!! Winter is here. Love you!

  • Trimming The Tree 2009   6 years 32 weeks ago

Nice Christmas tree, and fun to see Sweet Home decorated for Christmas.
So, Jordan, you have taken up the Souter "manly" custom of vacuuming (your mother says it's also a Furry trait)? Did you say every day? After living in Egypt, how do you find enough of anything there to vacuum that often? :-)

It must be a really amazing experience teaching in Korea. I read the other post about Star Wars and I laughed with your student's sheet...at least she was honest! (I wish my students were that honest). I teached spanish & tourism in London, I had a great time but yours is better! I couldn't have pets in my apartment :(
I like your blog very much, keep wrtiting please:)

I never knew that Luke learned art.  Fascinating.  =)

  • Star Wars (as seen by Korean students)   6 years 47 weeks ago

Obviously, Marisa, you are becoming very popular with the students.  Is the student who loves you a boy or a girl?
Is Jordan also charming his students?

  • Koreans Write the Darndest Things   6 years 47 weeks ago

When you talk about "the pearls" your students write and that their use of English is like "magical poetry" - you sound like a teacher - you've found the "soul" of teaching.

  • Hip Hop Nation   6 years 48 weeks ago

The question about "Croacia" was a joke, because I made a typo in the film, but Marisa's dad pointed out that some people do in fact spell Croatia that way; namely Europeans.

  • Thank You   7 years 1 week ago

I love the colors in that picture.  :)
I have a package for you, for your birthday, from PNG.  I'm not used to being able to send packages, but will it get to Korea if I mail it?

  • Quiz Answer: Korea largest consumer of garlic   7 years 2 weeks ago

I eat about four cloves of raw garlic a day with my meat.  Im obsessed and stinky.  I feel like I couldnt get away with eating raw garlic daily in the States.
