Nice! I like the new motto. And there is definitely something reassuring about such a familiar site as McDonald's when you feel so far from home. I experienced this when running into a McDonald's in Bangkok after getting really tired of fish for every meal and no bread. It was like an oasis in the desert. I was a little disappointed to find, however,that the food there was just a little different from the McDonald's I know and love. It was like some other food disguised as McDonald's. And I don't think there was any Ketchup. But I was delighted to see the beloved Ronald McDonald posed in the classic Thai hands-pressed-together greeting.
I must admit both that I am a fairweather fan, too, and way behind the times (I have seen the movies but have not read a single one of the books), but also that you pique my interest, and now I think I would like to experience all of the movies with you; or maybe we need to take a gigantic driving trip around the whole U.S. and to Alaska, and read them out loud?
We will be seeing HP7 in IMAX on Tuesday (and for the $6 Tuesday special price!), with Brendan, for the start of his Thanksgiving break. I'll think of you. :-)
Well, I come off as something of a supervillain in this post. For the record, the new camera is not that much fancier than our old one, and I said we should share the cameras equally.
You and Dan would get along very well. His motto: if you can get your favorite food (McD's fish sandwich) anywhere in the world, why eat anything else?

Love it! My fiance also enjoys all things poo related (in the theoretical, joking realm, of course). He would have enjoyed this display. Does the poop from this bathroom actually power something, as the diagram in the first photo indicates? I came here via Pixeled Memories, because I thought camping in Taiwan sounded like quite an adventure, and I'm really enjoying your posts and photos. Keep 'em coming!
Yep, view from our hostel room... or "prison cell," depending on how optimistically you look at the place we're staying in -- has all the essentials, but could do with a little "touching up" here and there; not that I'm complaining :) .

I think that you have a very good idea of what I'm feeling... though I have to say that I am amazed at how different the start of this journey has felt to me compared to every other journey I've gone on. I have never felt quite so homeless, quite so much the reality of living day by day. One day in, and already the world is made new :) .

We are often thinking of Gingko, and/or pretending to be him. Also, we keep our eyes open for mushi, and have seen some likely candidates.
